Can't read any OBDII data

I have an electron connected to my carloop. I’m not able to read any CAN data. The red LED lights up when I have it connected to the OBDII port, and I can connect to the the electron, but it doesn’t seem to read any data from any of my cars. I tried the example VIN reader app, and it couldn’t even do that. I upgraded the device OS from 0.5.4 to 1.1.0

Any ideas?

Vehicle info: Tried on my 2009 Acura TSX and my 2005 Jeep Wrangler. No go.
