Unable to get GPS Reading

I have received my carloop a few weeks ago. I am using the RedBear Duo and I have the GPS that carloop sells online(GP-735T). I connected everything and no matter what I do I can’t seem to get a GPS Reading. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

This is what carloop-minimal.ino looks like…
Battery voltage: 4.159160 CAN messages: 0 GPS 3125 chars: ********** *********** 00/00/2000 00:00:00
Battery voltage: 4.141757 CAN messages: 0 GPS 3269 chars: ********** *********** 00/00/2000 00:00:00
Battery voltage: 4.159160 CAN messages: 0 GPS 3489 chars: ********** *********** 00/00/2000 00:00:00

And I tried to read Serial1() as well and I get this…
$GPRMC,,V,,,,,,,,,,N*53 $GPVTG,,,,,,,,,N*30 $GPGGA,,,,,,0,00,99.99,,,,,,*48 $GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,99.99,99.99,99.99*30 $GPGSV,1,1,01,26,,,19*74 $GPGLL,,,,,,V,N*64

Hey @Affarram,
This is an issue we are investigating. We will get to the bottom of this and let you know if there is a workaround. Thanks for your patience!

My issue has resolved itself. After days of turning it on and off and letting it run, today it magically started working. I don’t know why it would take so long to start working but it did. For anyone else having this issue my advice is to let it run in your car for as long as it takes. If anyone has a technical explanation for why this is the case id like to hear it.

That is great news! We are taking the opportunity during the holidays to dig deeper into this. Thanks for the update, that is helpful!

Is there any update from the deeper digging? I’m also days into trying to get GPS data other than asterisks when running carloop_minimal without success.

We are looking into a new revision with a different GPS module that has faster cold start times.
